Introduction
- We are seeking a Software and Applications Manager to oversee software systems, application development, implementation, integration, and technology initiatives within the organisation. This role is designed for experienced professionals who can provide technical leadership, manage complex software projects, and ensure effective technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the acquisition, design, development and implementation of software systems and applications within the organisation.
Lead and supervise software development initiatives, projects and technical teams.
Monitor the performance, quality and results of software solutions and projects implemented across the organisation.
Maintain oversight of the organisation’s software deployment strategy and ensure effective implementation and integration of software solutions.
Translate business and operational requirements into software development initiatives, technical solutions and implementation plans.
Oversee the development of Proof-of-Concept (POC) solutions and evaluate their technical and business feasibility.
Provide technical expertise and direction for the development of software applications, platforms and system features.
Ensure appropriate cybersecurity, data protection, system security and technology risk considerations are incorporated into software development activities.
Establish software development standards, application architecture guidelines, technical procedures and quality assurance processes.
Review application architecture, technical designs and proposed software solutions to ensure scalability, reliability and maintainability.
Manage software development timelines, deliverables, resources, priorities and project risks.
Coordinate with developers, business stakeholders, management, vendors and external technology partners.
Oversee software testing, deployment, system integration, application upgrades and production releases.
Monitor application performance and initiate improvements to enhance system reliability, efficiency and user experience.
Evaluate emerging technologies, software platforms, cloud solutions and development tools relevant to the organisation.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to software development and application support personnel.
Prepare project plans, technical documentation, management reports and software implementation updates.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming & Systems Analysis, Science (Computer Studies), or a related relevant discipline.
Relevant experience in software/application development, software engineering or application management.
Experience leading or supervising software development, AI/Cloud/BPR projects and technical teams.
Strong understanding of software architecture, application development lifecycle, system integration, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity.
Strong project management, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
